Peking Duck

I've been told that Shanghai River in Richmond is home to the best Peking Duck in the Lower Mainland.  A few months ago, my friends and I decided to go see for ourselves, but unfortunately they were sold out of the dish for the night.  Fortunately, we had the opportunity to come back to Shanghai River once more last Sunday, and we were not disappointed.

Shanghai River also boast awesome Shanghai dumplings as well. Omnomnom!
While I quite enjoyed eating at Shanghai River, I think the best Chinese restaurant in Vancouver is Dai Tung located on Kingsway.  I might be a little bit biased because I grew up eating there on every single special occasion.  Thing is, if you wanted to be adventurous and "try something new on the menu just once," you will never be disappointed with Dai Tung, and the decision to stray away from the usual will not be one you'd regret.

Until next time,
Try something new!

10 Things To Do at Night in Vancouver/Lower Mainland

(P.S I'm too lazy to link these places, so if you would like to know more about them, Google it.)
  1. Robson Square Ice Rink - Free skating until 11 PM on the weekend.
  2. Commodore Lanes & Billiards -  Open until 12 AM on the weekdays
Or try out Revs 'cause their nachos are freakin' awesome!
  3. Twilight Drive-In - "The Lower Mainland's ONLY drive-in movie theatre!"
  4. Any Tim Hortons - Have some Steeped Tea while playing Monopoly Deal with your friends, and you will never want to leave.
  5. English Bay - Weather permitting, bring several blankets, a few friends and hang out.
  6. Richmond Indoor Paintball - Open until 12 AM everyday
  7. Q1 - Billiards for the seriously bored.
Or E-Spot for pool and arcade games
  8. Any park - play tag with your flashlights.
Or you can play hide and seek, but um... actually, don't.
  9. Karaoke at any place - most places tend to open well past 2 AM on weekends
  10. Your house - host a board game night
Suggestions: Cranium, Balderdash, Apples to Apples, Taboo, Pictionary, Settlers of Catan (but be prepared to lose some friends), Mafia, Jenga
It should be noted that I deliberately left out activities that mainly include eating and clubbing.  While such activities can be extremely fun, they are terrible for your body and wallet.  The suggestions above are pretty "student friendly", as I am currently a poor working scholar. WAH!

*FYI: I haven't found the chance to try out #3 and #6, but I heard they are great!
**Disclaimer: My sources are somewhat, kind of sort of, not really reliable.

Until next time,
Marry the night!

    Life, etc.

After months on hiatus, I have finally come back.  Sorry, no summer updates as I had previously intended.  However, you can visit my extremely personal blog (cityg1rl.xanga.com) if you're into all that word vomit stuff.  I know it's a little (for lack of a better word) juvenile of me to still be on Xanga, but it's always been my home and that is where my heart is . < / cheese >
Anyway, I took the Sign-in requirement off of that blog so it's been incredible cool to keep track of the kind of people who visit my Xanga page.  Before you become all paranoid, it just tells me the country the readers originate from.  That's all.

Seeing all the different countries pop up on my computer screen before my eyes got me to remember why I started writing on Blogspot in the first place.  The world is such a vast playground, yet I am confined to a single spot.  Still, I should not wallow in self-pity since this tiny area is actually pretty great.  I must continue to make the most out of my permanent vacation here in Vancouver.  A "staycation", if you will.
Don't worry.  Just because I haven't updated in a very long time doesn't mean I haven't been taking advantage of this beautiful city that I live in.  Thankfully, Dine Out Vancouver is just a mere days away.  I should have something wonderful to say about that!

In the meantime, I am still on the hunt for my perfect cruiser bike.

    Until next time,
    Continue to explore!
